A clydesdale harnessed in a cart by mojcaj
A clydesdale harnessed in a cart
In addition to thisharness i posted here…, I found a suitable cart on ebay, made of balsa and nicely painted. I added some wire to make this harnessed model horse possible to attach.

I am not sure I will consider this tack finished and I may even try to get a better photo, with a real camera.
Pachydectes, speculative reconstruction by mojcaj
Pachydectes, speculative reconstruction
Only a very distorted skull of this biarmosuchid was discovered. It is difficult to imagine the real shape of the skull and therefore the head. The skull has a bulbs on each maxilla. A while ago I already made this reconstruction, pretty much speculative I guess.
Harness in progress by mojcaj
Harness in progress
I have been working for a while on this english harness for model draft (draught) horses. It fits to classic sized model horse. All the metal parts are hand made. I still need to replace few parts, like terrets.

This is typical english harness with a draught saddle that partly supports weight of a cart.

I plan to mount a cart to this horse.

The breech has buckles which are usually not used, however model tacks can sometimes not be mounted on plastic horses because of plastic tail atteahed to the body.

I used a book The heavy horse, its harness and harness decoration as a reference. Nice book.

I mounted the same harness from this image… on a Schleich gipsy vanner mare with some changes. I added the breech band and completed the crupper.

Them harness is fully adjustable with many buckles.
Percheron mare logging by mojcaj
Percheron mare logging
I have been recently working on collars for Schleich sized horses.

For the Percheron mare I made hames from thick aluminum wire by drilling tiny holes to attach the rings. I tried to create the hames as realistic as possible.

The collar is made of leather and stitched, decorated with ribbon. It can be opened on the top.

The hames are not firmly attached to the collar, they are simply mounted on it, and tied with a chain on the top of the collar, the same as the real one. I used chain instead of leather belt to make  the connection stronger.

All the harness parts are made of leather, fully adjustable and removable, all the buckles are workable. The crupper (also crooper) has been removed since it can not be mounted on this horse.

The background is a late winter scenery near my house.

No journal entries yet.
